I’ve been working in the freelancing world for over 13 years now. I started on a website called freelancer.com, which was quite a bad experience, and went all the way to work on upwork.com, Fiverr.com, and all sorts of freelancing websites.

There is a reality when it comes to the gig economy — The concept of the gig economy is perfect in every aspect of it.

We’ve had freelancers ever since the beginning of time. You don’t really have to work in a company to achieve success or to make an amount of money that is good enough for you to survive in this world.

The truth is freelancers have been existing for as long as we can remember.

The Foundation

So in terms of the root of what websites like Fiverr and Upwork stand for, you can’t really argue that they are flawed. Yet in all honesty, I have not seen them achieve the success that I thought they would by now.

I thought Fiverr & Upwork would be dominating the charts in terms of the Fortune 500 companies. They have been working very well. They’re public companies and are increasing their market capitalization every year, but they didn’t really disrupt the working…
